The Ministry of Energy Holds Dialogue Session (Sesi Muzakarah) with Members of the Legislative Council

A Dialogue Session (Sesi Muzakarah) between the Ministry of Energy and members of the Legislative Council was held on Thursday, 11th February 2021 at West Wing Meeting Room, Level 1 of the Prime Minister's Office Complex. The delegation consisted of fifteen (15) Legislative Council Members and was led by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman.

LegCo Members visit Tenaga Suria Brunei (TSB), Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) and Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI)

Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) conducted a working visit to a number of energy facilities in Belait District on 3rd February 2021 as part of the Ministry of Energy's effort to provide a strategic insight into the existing and latest development of Brunei Darussalam's energy sector. The visit highlighted the sector's crucial role as a cornerstone of Brunei's socio-economic development.

The Ministry of Energy Holds Tree Planting Activity

The Ministry of Energy, its Department and associated Statutory Bodies held its first planting activity as part of a nationwide reforestation effort to support the main strategies under the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP). Organized by the Department of Electrical Services (DES) and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam, the event was held on 30th January 2021 at the new Recreational Park, Jalan Pusat Persidangan in Berakas.

MISC Energy Engagement Day and Launch of SkillUP™App

Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy attended the Energy Industry Engagement Day on 20th January 2021. Organized by the Manpower Industry Steering Committee [MISC] Working Group for Energy (MISC WG Energy) with support from Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. Sdn. Bhd (BSP), the event was held at V-Plaza Grand Hall, Kuala Belait. The Engagement Day was a continuation of the last two Industry Engagements; the Competence Framework Industry Engagement held in March 2020 and the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Market Engagement Day held in August last year. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education as MISC Deputy Chairman, key stakeholders from the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Energy and other relevant government agencies and leaders from the Energy industry.


The Ministry of Energy Strategic Retreat Session 2021

The Ministry of Energy and associated Statutory Bodies held a Strategic Retreat on Thursday, 14th January 2021 at the East Wing Conference Hall, Prime Minister's Office. Organized by the Ministry's Policy and Strategy Division, the retreat was the penultimate event of the Ministry's Strategic Workshops that were held on the 6th and 7th January 2021. The Strategic Retreat discussed the targets and action plans of the Ministry's eight strategic objectives under its Strategic Plan for the years 2020-2025. The session was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy.

Current and Future Skills in the Oil and Gas Industry: Towards the Expansion of Brunei Downstream Energy Sector

Brunei Darussalam continues to create new economic opportunities to diversify the country's economy. Alongside other sectors, the downstream oil and gas sector plays an important role in reshaping the country's economic landscape and boosting resilience during a time of global oil market uncertainties. The downstream sector recorded a significant increase of 433.5% between Q3 2019 to Q3 2020.

Ministry of Energy Presents Donation to Orphans

The Ministry of Energy held a donation ceremony for orphans on Thursday, 31st December 2020. Present as the Guest of Honour and to handover the donation was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy. The event was held at Bismi Enterprise, Kampong Serusop.

​A Town Hall session was held for staff from the Ministry of Energy, Department of Electrical Services and its associated Statutory Bodies on Tuesday, 28th December 2020 at the Banquet Hall, Prime Minister's Office. The session was led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy and attended by over 200 staff in observance of Ministry of Health guidelines for physical distancing.
