22-Aug-2020 : The Ministry of Energy Holds Hijrah Ceremony

The Ministry of Energy, its Department and associated Statutory Bodies, held a religious talk in conjunction with the new Islamic year 1442 Hijrah. Jointly organized by the Ministry's Legal Affairs Unit, International Affairs Unit and Permanent Secretary's Office, the event was held at the Main Theatre Hall, Prime Minister's Office on 3rd Muharram 1442 Hijrah corresponding to 22nd August 2020 Masehi. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Acting Minister of Energy.

Also present Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy); Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power); Officers and Staff of the Ministry of Energy, the Department of Electrical Services; Safety Health Environment and National Authority (SHENA) and Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al Fatihah and Doa Selamat which was later followed by a religious talk titled "­­­­Hakikat Hijrah" delivered by­­ Yang Mulia Ustaz Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, Co-Founder of Al-Minhaaj Centre in which he reflected on the Islamic significance of Hijrah that carries the meaning of "migration" in the context of the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) and his companion from Makkah to Madinah. He highlighted that Hijrah underlines the migration from bad deeds to righteous deeds. The event was a part of the annual religious event participated by the Ministry, aimed at fostering the relations between the staff of ME, its Department and Statutory Bodies. It was held in adherence with the guidelines set by Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
